Partners in growth:
Jamie and Sue Hansen
Jamie and his parents moved to the Childers area in the 90’s and for years farmed a mix of sugar cane, melons, pumpkins, zucchinis, peanuts, soya beans and potatoes.
After meeting Sue at a Lychee conference over 20 years ago, the operation has slowly evolved from sugar cane and small crops into tree crops, firstly lychees and then macadamias.
Together, they are both strong advocates for agriculture and farmers right to farm, dedicating their efforts to address critical issues for their region, such as water security and the remediation of Paradise Dam.
Jamie serves on the board of the Bundaberg Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association, and both he and Sue have recently been invited to be members of the Rabo Bank Client Council, a group tasked with managing the Rabo Community Fund. A charitable fund set up to assist rural communities.
They are proud parents to four children, and farm with their futures in mind.
Sue, hails from a background in tourism, IT, and holiday parks, a skill set that has been an incredibly good fit on a modern farm. She is also an avid traveller spending many years overseas (predominantly in Africa) and is a strong believer in the benefits a person gets when they experience other people’s cultures.
Jamie and Sue’s life’s work on the farm and beyond reflects their commitment to the ongoing improvement of their operation, their family, their friends, and the environmental legacy they aim to leave for future generations.
